10 Things You Probably Don’t Know About Me

In honor of NP’s 1 month anniversary, I decided to share a bit about the owner, yours truly. So, here it is. 10 things you probably don’t know about me.

10 Things You Probably Don’t Know About Me:

1. I have two tattoos

Yes, I know this is only one, but it’s by far the easiest to photograph myself. On my right arm I have quoted “measure your life in love” from RENT’s Seasons of Love and on my  back I have a pair of F Holes commemorating my many years playing the viola. I got the F Holes in July of 2016 and the RENT quote the next September. I definitely plan on getting many more.

2. I love giraffes

Everyone who comes to my house for the first time has a mini heart attack as soon as they step into my bedroom, where I have about 40 stuffed giraffes, a giant wall sticker, pants, wallets, handbags, and luggage, all in giraffe print. As you might have guessed, this will be one of my upcoming tattoos.

3. I can solve a Rubik’s Cube

Though my father is the one who originally sparked my interest, it didn’t take long for the student to become the master. My record is 11 seconds, but I’m averaging a mediocre 42 nowadays. What can I say? A musician’s hands get tired. I can also solve a 4x4x4 and a 5x5x5. I haven’t tried anything higher.

4. I’m an only child

While I’ve adopted many friends as my own, I am a lonely one. I do have a big family though, and a lot of cousins. This one in particular, four years my senior, is the closest thing to a sister I’ll ever have. She likes to deny it, but when you torture someone that much, you’re either a sibling or a criminal.

5. I have two cats

We’ve had Fluffy and Minou for about five years now. Fluffy is a bit antisocial and usually hides when people are in the living room. He also happens to hate me, as I tend to be a bit loud at times. Minou, on the other hand, loves attention. If you dare decide that you want to be productive, there he is, telling you that’s not going to happen.

6. I write music

I started writing very young, and can still remember the song I wrote about three of my stuffed animals, entitled “Muffy, Buffy, Ruffy”. My senior year in high school, I was featured four times: A vocal song that won the talent show, a jazz style flute duet, a string ensemble piece, and a marching band concept. It was pretty fun, and I still write daily, and am even starting to sing.

7. I’m afraid of horses

I took a field trip in elementary school where I got bitten by a horse. I don’t really remember it hurting, but I do have a distinct memory of the angry inside of a horse’s mouth. I also have a fear of birds, but that’s a whole other story.

8. Chicken Nuggets are my comfort food

I don’t know how this came about, but it’s the funniest thing to my friends. I was having an especially bad breakup one time and while I was ranting on snapchat, I said “chicken nuggets don’t leave you”, and certain friends will never let me forget it. On the upside, everytime I’m in a bad mood, someone shows up with a 10 piece and some barbecue sauce, so I think I can handle the teasing.

9. I rocked a Mohawk for 3 Years

Anybody who knows me will tell you that my hawk was my most prized possession. Me and mom spent three years finding new ways to style my lil baby. I finally shaved my head the summer of my graduation (2016) because I didn’t feel like doing my hair before I went to work. I tend to be a bit impulsive at times.

10. I graduated early

Now, I don’t remember a lot about my earlier days, but I do know that I didn’t complete Kindergarten. Apparently, I never let other students answer questions, so my teachers banished me to the 1st grade. The next 12 years of my life was basically just me explaining to people why I was a year younger than everyone. I graduated when I was 17 and didn’t turn 18 until my second semester of college.
